Saturday the heat index was expected to reach 112, and it was very hot. Tomorrow is not supposed to be as hot because there’s a 60% chance of rain and the high is expected to be 94°. Don’t know what the humidity % will be

When Calls The Heart season 9 is on now! I’ve watched episodes 1-8 about 3 times waiting for season 9!
I love this show!

In The Kitchen…
Taco Salad for my son, Beef, Cheese & Tomato Burritos for me
Crockpot Chicken, Baby Carrots, Baby Red Potatoes
Crockpot Honey Pork Steaks, haven’t decided on sides yet
Barbecue Chicken Sandwiches
Mexican Stuffed Shells

New To Me Stuff:
Well, I wanted a new set of pots and pans and then went a little overboard but am very happy I did. I ended up getting a new set of pots & pans, pot & pan organizer, GreenPan Round Mini, GreenPan Square Mini, 8-Piece Nonstick Stackable Bakeware Set, a set of 4 Refrigerator Organizers for pop, an 18 Pcs Stainless Steel Corn Cob Holders & Butter Spreading Tool, and a set of 3 Stainless Steel Whisks. I couldn’t decide on which Silicone Spatula set I wanted so I’m still looking at them

Today’s To Do List…
I have to work in the morning and need to stay an hour or so longer to help cover for someone, then home to relax

Looking forward to…
Didn’t get to go anywhere with my daughter the last week because my head has been hurting on the back bottom right and it’s down into my neck also. It seems better and then worse again, hoping it stops too

Question Of The Week…
What is the one thing other than books that you have an addiction to? As you can see above, mine is kitchen items

A Favorite Bible Verse…
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.
Malachi 3

  1. Wow, you got yourself all set up for some nice cooking and baking now. I love kitchenware and, you made some nice choices. I have an addition to high quality bed linens (my mom did too). The right sheets, pillowcases, blankets and comforters make me happy.

That snake pic is so creepy. I loved The Swimmers and wouldn’t mind reading Love Story again sometime.

    • I have a very big addiction to small kitchen appliances, anything kitchen related really. I’m content with these purchases, at least for a while 🙂

My cousin has his own business where he breeds Bearded Dragons, Pythons, Boas, Dwarf Burmese, Reticulated Pythons. I held a huge snake years ago so they don’t scare me much anymore, I just don’t want one to crawl on me. EWWW!

  2. I’m wondering what you did with your old pots and pans. It looks as if you have quite a full pantry with the organizer and everything. Really impressive. I still have some of the same pots and pans I started with.

    • I have some things my mom and husband’s grandmother had and I love them. But the last 2 sets of pots and pans I got were Wolfgang Puck and Rachel Ray and I didn’t love either set. I got married 47 years ago. I can’t even remember what set I started out with.

  3. Sorry to hear about your pain in the neck (couldn’t resist). Hope you are better soon. Cooled off here over the weekend – only in the 70’s. Will start warming up again on Sunday.

    • LOL, very funny Mark! It’s feeling better little by little. The “feels like” right now is 105° and the hottest time of the day isn’t for another 2 hrs.

  4. The cooking sounds delicious.

    • I’m not really a pasta fan but the Mexican Stuffed Shells sounded good so I’ll give them a try. I do love Mexican food!

  5. I’ve read a lot about The Swimmers and it’s on my list too.

  6. An addiction other than reading? That would be knitting. Enjoy all the new kitchen tools!

    • I’m not a crafty person but my mom was always, as far back as I can remember, either sewing, crocheting, knitting, etc. She made some beautiful clothes and afghans. I made a skirt in Jr. High and she had to redo it. I did make a mighty fine square pot holder though 🙂

  7. We cooled off this weekend. I love kitchen stuff too.

  8. I sure hope you get to feeling better. Pain like that takes all your focus. Not sure how you injured yourself but I found I had neck pain from looking downward at my phone for long periods. There was a video about stretching and comparing our head weigth to a bowling ball and strain on the neck. If I find it I will send you the loink as it helped me.

New kitchen stuff – yea!!! Love your weekly menu.

    • I think I slept on it wrong but I’m not sure. Seems it moves from spot to spot. It’s not so much in the back bottom of my head today, it’s lower, into my neck.

Thanks, I’d love to watch the video if you do find it.

  9. Not a fan of snakes but this one looks like it is napping. 🙂

  10. Seems like you had a fun shopping spree! Though I’m not much of a cook and own only very basic equipment, I can appreciate the pleasure in buying good tools for something you love to do. In addition to reading, I spend time painting (abstract) or crocheting (a new hobby). There’s LOTS to do!

    • I don’t love to cook as much as I used to but I figure if I have to do it I might as well like what I’m using to do it. My oldest sister could have made a living painting. I’m lucky if I can draw a tree.

  11. I hope your pain goes away very soon.

I don’t really have anything I’m addicted to other than books. Thank goodness for libraries! I buy books, but at least I don’t have to buy all of them–we have plenty stacked up around the place as it is–LOL

    Enjoy your new cookware!

    • I go a bit overboard with books too. I have Audible, use 2 different library systems, have 3 Kindles, and a ridiculous amount of physical books. I did downsize before we moved here so I don’t have as many physical books anymore and gave away all my book CD’s.

  12. It was 96 degrees here in Montana on Thursday and today it was 51. I don’t think I could live here. But, good grief, 112?!

I go crazy with books, of course, but I also can’t resist pens/pencils/paper. I need to throw out all my pots and pans except one or two. From now on, I’m only buying good stuff.

I hope your head pain gets resolved soon.

    • That sounds like the weather we have in winter in Florida sometimes.

I also have a thing with pens. And a big addiction to Daily Reflections etc. I’ve always bought pots and pan sets that were around $200 but this time I went with a $400 set that I hope lives up to it’s description!

Head is still hurting but eases up once in a while.

  13. Oh wow! You basically got a new kitchen! How fun! I’m so sorry about your headache. I get a similar one and it’s absolutely awful. Aleve PM is about the only thing I’ve found that helps but it could be it just makes me go to sleep so I don’t feel it anymore. Have a wonderful week!

  14. I hope your head/neck pain gets better!

I love that you got all that new kitchen stuff; how fun to figure out where to put it, cook with it, and feel like you really treated yourself!

    • For me it was more of a necessity than a treat. The Teflon on my Rachel Ray pans was starting to have scratch marks even though it was only about 7 years old and I always used plastic spatula’s etc. so I figured it was time to get another set. I’m happier with them where and how they are stored now!

  15. I can’t think of anything besides books that I’m addicted to. I do love pens and journals but living in a tiny space helps me keep that under control. My husband loves kitchenware too but that’s even more of a space issue than my office supplies. He did decide about a year ago that he was tired of our cheap pots and pans so he replaced them with a nice Calphalon set. He’s the one who likes cooking but I cook on days he works, so I use his nice cookware way more than he does!

When my husband and I first started traveling with his job, we went to Ocala for 3 months. Homosassa State Park was one of the last places we visited before we left and we wished we’d found it sooner. We would have taken our visitors there. I loved the underwater viewing area for the manatees! And we liked watching Lucifer the hippo splash around.

I hope your head/neck pain resolves soon and the heat gets a bit better.

    • I was going to buy a Calphalon set but found the ones I ended up getting and the both the pans and lids are oven safe up to 600°, the Calphalon were only up to 400°. I don’t know that I’ll ever need that high of a heat but bought them just in case.

The underwater Manatee viewing is like being in the water with them, so cool!

  16. Sounds like you had fun shopping for new kitchen stuff. Enjoy everything!

    Have a great weekend!

  17. Oooo I love all the pans & bakeware! I don’t have any other obsession besides books where I buy anything.

I hope your head/neck pain is better soon.

We had turkey taco salad last week and that really hit the spot!

    • Thanks Jinjer, my neck is 99.9% better! I love Mexican food! Could eat it every day. Sadly our Mexican restaurant closed, so Taco Bell it is!

  18. Ooo, The Love Story is such a classic. I plan it give it a go sometime. Happy reading.

  19. Hope you’re feeling better by the time you read this (it’s Wednesday evening).

You’re reading Love Story! I think that’s great. I should dust off my copy, which once belonged to my mom.

  20. That’s a big snake! I hope it’s cooled down there. 112 sounds way too hot! I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts about The Swimmers. I have that on my summer list. Have a great week.

    • Yes it was, very big! The heat index today is 102° which is better, but still too hot 🙁

I only have 1 1/2 hours left of The Swimmers so my review should be up in 3-4 days if not sooner.
