Today is Library Shelfie Day!

Library Shelfie Day: When A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words. Library Shelfie Day was founded by the New York Public Library in 2014 and takes place on the fourth Wednesday in January. It is a chance for book lovers everywhere to share their love of reading with others.

  1. I like the idea of Shelfie Day! I wish I’d posted mine.

  2. Great post – I hadn’t heard of this feature. You are very organized Vicki. We bought a big cat tree in our other house and it was never used so, we donated it to the shelter when we moved. I then bought a small one but, our new cats rarely use it either…LOL

    • I just heard of it today 🙂

One of my son’s best friends is vice president of a nearby animal shelter and every year they host an event called FurBall Gala to raise money for the animals. They have great entertainment, dancing, contests, games, a yummy dinner, and raffle off great prizes. A few years ago he won this cat tree and our 2 cats LOVE it. They use it every day!

  3. What a great idea Shelfie Day is.

  4. Love this! We have piles instead of shelves, but whatever works–LOL

    • Before I moved it was only my husband and I and one son. We lived in a 4 bedroom house with a entertainment room that my son claimed for a game room. That was ok with me but I lined the walls with bookshelves, and did the same in the extra 3 bedrooms. After my husband died we moved to a small 2 bedroom house and I couldn’t take all my books 🙁

Now I only have a few bookshelves, but I have 3 Kindles and an iPad 🙂 I know it’s a bit much to have 3 Kindles, but they each have different functions I like. I can’t listen to audiobooks on one, one plays audiobooks, and the other one can be read outside with no glare and plays audiobooks.

  5. Thanks for letting us know about this unusual day! I posted my shelves!

  6. Dang, I missed it by a day!!! I’m always late so my library shelfie is going to be today or tomorrow. Can I take a picture of Kindle? Does that count?

  7. Oh how fun! I love your bookshelf. I have a wall that needs a narrow bookshelf and the one I have there now is narrow enough but not tall enough. I need more shelves.

    • When I moved I had to downsize my books. I went from 3 bedrooms and an Entertainment room with the walls lined with bookshelves to 1 bedroom of books, and a few boxes 🙁 But I love that other people will be reading them.
