Oct 092021

Supposed to be a high of 86° with only a 16% chance of rain. I’m hoping that doesn’t change so we can have a cookout and not get caught in the rain or it be too hot

  1. Ahhhh can I come to the cookout on that lovely new grill?

    • Yesterday was a weird and whacky day that I never want to repeat. To sum it up, there was no cookout. Not because of the grill or a person, but because a certain grocery delivery that wasn’t.

  2. I think you may like E M Delafield as well. I’ve looked for the Helen Tursten book but no luck so far.

  3. We’ve had a week of cooler temperatures at night. I should have known it wouldn’t last. Sigh. I wish fall would arrive.

Here’s a book I’ve been curious about: An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good. I look forward to hearing what you think of this one.

I’m a bit jealous of that beautiful new grill. I would love it if we had one. I’ll like to see photos of some grill cooking, please!

    • I love when we have cooler temps. This is my second try at An Elderly Lady. It just didn’t interest me the first time so I gave up pretty quickly. This time I’m loving it. Makes no sense!

I’ll post photos when we cook something more than hamburgers and hotdogs. Trying to make time to go to Costco and get some steaks or ribs.

  4. It’s been raining the past few days but that didn’t stop our donating boxes and boxes of books to the library and an education center. So many more boxes to be packed to clean out more of the basement, my new project. An Elderly Lady…sounds like a good one.

    • I got rid of 2 spare bedrooms of books and a recreation room full of books and book CD’s when I moved a few years ago. It was hard but my new house was 1/3 the size and I just didn’t have room for that many books. Plus, donating anything is a good thing.

  5. Lovely new grill! Here in South Africa, we mainly use open, or build in barbeques. (We call it a braai), but I believe those grills can be much easier. Although the open fire is always very inviting.

Looking forward to your review on The Husband’s secret! I enjoyed that book.

    Have a good week ahead!

    • I would love to have a built in bbq! Maybe my son will build me one sometime.

I keep forgetting to review The Husband’s Secret. I need to make a note of it.

  6. Nice looking grill, hope you cook many lovely meals.

  7. Oh, good… you’ve got the Elderly Lady book! I really enjoyed Maud and hope you are, too. Your new grill looks great. I’m glad the weather is good today so you can use it – enjoy!

    • I tried listening the An Elderly Lady a while back but it just didn’t grab me. I decided to give it another try since so many bloggers are raving about it. This time it did grab me and I’m loving it! I’m loving her “little old lady” voice 🙂

  8. What a pretty grill! Enjoy!

  9. The new grill is definitely pretty and I am sure you will all get good use of it. And, it’s an excuse to be outside, which is always good.

  10. Your new grill is awesome sauce, as the little kids say.

  11. Hope the cookout was fab!

  12. We have a very similar Weber grill, which we just bought this summer. We grill year-round and go through our BBQs every 5-6 years, thanks to the salty ocean air.

We’re traveling right now and I was expecting it to be fairly hot (we’re in Santa Rosa, near Napa), but I’ve been cold the entire time we’ve been here. I should have packed more of my Oregon wardrobe! 🙂

  13. Love the new grill! I’m sure you’ll get tons of good use out of it. While I do all the indoor cooking I’ve never actually used a grill! The weather is trending cooler here. We’ve had a couple of days in the 90s but they’re becoming rarer and rarer. Hope you have a wonderful week!

    • I do all the indoor cooking too, and used to do all the grill cooking too. But when my son bought me the new grill he said he was going to start doing most of the cooking on it, that was another great gift he gave me that day 🙂

My week has been pretty good so far, I hope your week has been great too.

  14. Wow, a cookout sounds great ! Here the nights are getting cold, but the days are bright and warm enough. That grill looks awesome !

  15. I keep hearing about the Elderly Lady book and I better go have a look! Love your grill, your kids are so thoughtful. I hope you get a great cookout soon.

  16. My favorite movie is Chinatown. Seen it so many times, I know all the answers to the trivia of it. I even know the connection between the movie and the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

    • I don’t think I’ve ever seen that movie, but am adding it to my list. I know every line to a few movies that I’ve watched over and over, and over…
