Question Of The Week…
How would you compare Audible to Scribd? I have Audible, Prime Reading, & KU but I’m thinking about not renewing Audible and getting Scribd. My Audible books have been skipping the first word in most sentences and it’s so aggravating.

A Favorite Bible Verse…
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

  1. Have you complained to Audible about the skipping? If not I would. I do like their selection. I also have a Libro.fm membership with I like to maintain as they donate to your local Indie book store of your choice when you order a book.

We are getting ready for Hurricane Henri here in New England so we will be hunkering down.

  2. I haven’t had a problem with audible yet, I seem to be using it a lot this month. I do really enjoy their selection. I hope you get yours straighten out.

    Here is my link:

  3. I hope your second pass at People We Meet on Vacation goes well. I enjoyed the back-and-forth between the two main characters though I was a bit disappointed at the ending.

I’ve always wanted to see Yes Day. Yes Day is an idea that sounds perfect to a kid. But how does something like that actually play out?

I’ve never subscribed to either Audible or Scribd. I wish I could help.

    • People We Meet on Vacation is going better for me this time thankfully!

I really enjoyed Yes Day, and I suppose how it turns out depends on what the kids put on their list. Could be good, bad, or ugly 🙂

  4. I wonder if you will like 97 Orchard. My culinary reading group found it quite disappointing, though I liked the author’s later book about the Great Depression.

    best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com

    • I’m not that far into 97 Orchard but I’m enjoying it so far. But then I love anything to do with NYC. I might try her book about the Great Depression sometime soon.

  5. You have a good menu planned, I will be making note of some of those meals. I just can’t get into Audible and I have tried.

I like the photo of the jet – we are going to travel next month and first time flying in years!

    • I tried audiobooks in 2014 but after only a few books I gave up, didn’t like listening and would have rather read. Then in 2017 I tried audiobooks again and a switch flipped and since then I mainly listen to audiobooks with and occasional print book thrown in. I think the audio gives the book “life”.

I hope you have a safe trip! The last time I flew was January 2020, right before Covid hit. I do love driving but for places far away I like flying and not wasting 4-5 days in a car traveling.

  6. I have a membership with Audible and haven’t had any skipping problems. I’m also using Libro.fm. I don’t know why I’m paying for two memberships, but I got interested in Libro.fm since they donate to my independent bookstore. I really should drop Audible…

    Have a good week!

  7. My reading was a bit slow this week as well. I think we watched more TV too. We are watching NYPD Blue from the 1990’s. I’ve always wanted to see Miss Potter – thanks for the reminder.

Your menu plan looks delicious – I haven’t had Chicken a la king in ages.

    Have a great week!

  8. Blueberry Zucchini bread sounds really good! I have not used Audible or Scribd. I just use the Overdrive to download from the Library. It works well. But I hope you can fix your skipping problem. The plane photo is pretty cool! Enjoy your week.

    • I’m going to not renew my Audible and get Scribd. I also use 3 different audio apps from my library systems and am happy with those. I didn’t think I was going to get my iPhone ready for a photo of the plane before it passed us, but I did.

  9. I have People We Meet on Vacation on my TBR. I hope you enjoy it this time around.

    What a great photo!

Hope you have a great week!

  10. I’ve found audible’s customer service to be excellent… I’d let them know you’re having trouble and see if they have any suggestions for you. I gave my daughter a libro.fm membership for Christmas, but haven’t purchased any for myself . Not familiar with scribd, but appreciate audible’s extensive exclusive content.

Will be curious to hear what you think of People We Meet on Vacation. It was an early dnf for me in print, but I’ve wondered about giving it another try.

My book club read 97 Orchard a few years ago. I remember wanting to know more about each family’s story.

The chicken salad recipe is very similar to one I make… it’s my favorite! Have a good week, Vicki.

    • I stopped listening to People We Meet On Vacation shortly after starting it, it just wasn’t interesting me. But since I paid for it I thought I’d give it another try and this time it got more interesting as I went farther.

I love any kind of chicken salad. I had a Pecan Chicken Salad for lunch today, Yummy!

  11. Blueberry zucchini bread sounds really yummy! And, a week of TV and movie binging sounds pretty great right now. I haven’t been able to decide what to watch since ending Never Have I Ever

  12. I dropped Audible during the early parts of the pandemic and I never wanna go back. I went with Scribd and have loved everything about it. Less than nine bucks a month and I get a whole lot more than I got with Audible. I know Scribd has a good 30 day free trial. You also get some extras like Pandora and the movie channel MUBI as well. Give it a try!

I hope you enjoy your books! Looks like you’ve been watching some fun stuff too. Enjoy your week!

  13. Unfortunately, I can NOT with audio books. I’ve tried and I’ve tried. My friend, who is an audio book devotee told me “Just stop.” lol

Love the picture of the plane!

I tried that spaghetti pie casserole and it is now a top fave so thanks for linking us up with it! I want to eat it every day.

    • I was the same way when I first started listening to audio. Just didn’t like them much. Now it’s pretty much the only way I “read”.

I thought the plane was going to pass before I got my camera ready.

      Glad you loved the casserole!

  14. Amen to your Bible verse. If only we can always pray like that.

I should watch Miss Potter again! Haven’t seen it in years!

Hope you will have a wonderful and blessed week ahead.

    • I love The Lord’s Prayer!

I found Miss Potter by accident and am glad I did, I loved it!

Thank you Mareli, I hope you have a wonderfully Blessed week also!

  15. We have very high, 90s temps these days too, only cooling down later in the week. Good for snoozing in cool air and reading!

  16. If you try to cancel your Audible subscription it gives you the option to pause it for 3 months so you could always try that and give Scribd a chance without having to resign up if you don’t like it. I haven’t had the skipping issue but I can definitely see how it would be annoying. We’ve been hitting the 90s and humidity makes the air feel like walking through wet blankets. Not a fan! Curious about 87 Orchard. That one is on my TBR. Have a wonderful week!

  17. The menu sounds good! Caprese pizza with garden tomatoes tonight here.

  18. We don’t have Zucchini bread in the UK so I’m very curious as to what it is like. I also had to investigate some of your other recipes as I was very intrigued by them!

    • You can make your own Zucchini bread if you have all the ingredients. That’s what my daughter in law did. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it in the stores here.

  19. I’ve also been having a bit of TV binge this week, mostly because I don’t want to finish anymore books till I’m caught up with my reviews.
    Your menu sounds great!

    • Sometimes I have a hard time finding new to me movies or shows, but last week I found a lot. I finally caught up with my reviews, but my reading has been a bit slow.

  20. 97 Orchard sounds good–I’m going to look for it at the library. We still have to find where our new local library is–maybe tomorrow!

    • I’ve been checking every day to see if you or Bill have posted on your blogs so I’m so happy to see you post a comment, I’ve missed seeing you two post!

I hope you can find the book!
