  1. I think it’s a great idea to try to watch some of the top-rated movies. I’ve never seen Shawshank Redemption. I think I’ll suggest it for our movie night soon.

I am trying to decide if that’s a real person in your photo or a sculpture.

Love our enemies. That’s all we have to do. Simple. But so difficult.

    • I enjoyed Shawshank Redemption and am excited to watch it again.

      It’s a sculpture 🙂

It isn’t always an easy thing to do, especially if the person is really horrible and hateful.

  2. Oh, I’ve had Golden smore treat bars. Golden Grahams is so addictive. That and Cinnamon toast crunch. Yum! see you at sunday post

  3. Whew, 96% humidity is brutal. I hope you can stay cool today. I may give the Pork Chops with Orange Rice a try. Sounds yummy!

  4. I enjoyed your post (and now I’m in the mood for Chinese food!), but best of all to me is your verse from Thessalonians. No word is like His Word. And, the cross of fingers in your upper corner? So beautiful!! Thanks for these. Love, Bellezza

    • I love Chinese food 🙂 That’s one of my favorite verses, keeps my mind in the right place when I run into people who are not so nice. I love that cross of fingers!

      And, you’re welcome!

  5. Oops, didn’t mean Thessalonians…not sure where that came from! Matthew. I meant Matthew.

    • Don’t feel bad, I made a few mistakes when commenting on blogs today for some reason. I usually check them before hitting “publish” but for some reason I didn’t today.

  6. It’s a lovely 72 and sunny and 68% humidity, high of 79 today so a nice change from all our July rain. We only watched one movie this week: It was Labor Day based on the book by Joyce Maynard, a favorite author. I saw it before but my husband hadn’t. It’s such a moving story. Have you seen it? Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin are the stars.

Hope you have a lovely week. I missed a few of your reviews so need to check them out.

    • I thought I had read Labor Day but it’s not in my archives. It may be one of the books I never got around to reviewing. No, I haven’t seen the movie. I may (re?)read the book and watch the movie soon.

  7. We’re having the same type of weather you are. That’s why I spend most of my time with my a/c 🙂

Your books look really good. I have to check out the Danielle Steel and Heather Webber books.

I hope you have a great week!

  8. I love that statue! Very pretty.

Looks like you are making some wonderful things! Glad you can get takeout as well from your favorite place. We have a wonderful Thai place we love to hit from time to time.

Shawshank Redemption is one of my all-time favorite movies! It’s a classic. I need to rewatch it soon. That’s a great idea to watch and rewatch some of these top-rated films. I know I get caught up in all the new shiny movies and books. It’s good to step back and watch some of the greats of the past.

I hope you have a safe and cool week!

  9. I love the photo!! The writing on the pad is unexpected.

The Shawshank Redemption is a great movie. But you already know that.

    • I agree with you about the writing on the pad. It kind of looked like it was done by people who were passing by.

Yes, that movie is very good!

  10. Yassss I love fun projects like deciding to watch some of the IMDb Top Rated Movies. What’s a better word than “project”? Project doesn’t sound like fun. And that is definitely fun.

I think I made something like that spaghetti pie recently, but a different recipe and with egg noodles so I want to try the one you linked to.

Aaaand now I’m craving Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal and Chinese Food. lol Luckily I haven’t been to the grocery yet, so I can add the cereal to my list.

    • I love movies so when I saw that list I was very happy and eager to go through it.

I haven’t made a spaghetti casserole in a very long time.

I’ve been on a Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds kick lately.

  11. I quite liked Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe so I hope you’re enjoying it. Spaghetti Pie was a favorite when my kids were younger. Have a good week, Vicki!

    • I’m enjoying Blackbird Care so far. I’ve never made Spaghetti Pie before but my kids love spaghetti.

Thanks Mary, you have a good week too!

  12. That sculpture is fantastic!

I think Shawshank Redemption is a great movie and a good choice for a re-watch. I like that idea of watching Netflix’s top rated movies. I’ll have to check out what’s on their list.

  13. It’s in the low to mid 70s here in CT with a cool breeze… a nice escape from the heat and humidity. I think it’s a great idea to watch movies from that list, but I can’t believe I’ve never seen Shawshank Redemption! There was a prison break in Dannemora, NY in 2015 that took police on a 2 week manhunt… the escapees were supposedly influenced by that movie. Hope you have a good week, Vicki.

    • I often think “someone is going to copy that in real life” when I see or read stuff in movies and books. I’d like to know how often someone does.

  14. Oooh, Shawshank Redemption is such a good movie. I should see if my husband wants to watch it again.

That’s such a great sculpture! So realistic.

Now you have me craving Chinese food. Maybe tomorrow night…

    Have a good week, Vicki!

  15. What a fun idea to go through the highly rated movies. Shawshank is one of my favorites.

  16. It’s hot here too though I’m not sure it’s quite that hot! How on earth did people survive before air condition?? The Golden Graham bars sound delicious. I’m a huge cereal addict so I might have to throw those into the cart next time I’m at the grocery store. Have a great week!

    • I don’t remember needing an a/c until I was a little over 30 years old and moved to Florida. I did use them before that sometimes in the car though. It wasn’t as hot back then as it is today.

I love eating cereal for supper sometimes. Either Lucky Charms or Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds

  17. Your recipes, once again, look great. Oh, and doing for a drive and picking up Chinese takeout if always fun. We haven’t done that in awhile.

Our meals here have been less than impressive. The girl is always out and the hub is always at the gym.

    • My friends and I started going for rides when we were teenagers, mostly not knowing where we were going. Sometimes we ended up in another state because we lived in Ohio and were only a few hours from West Virginia and Kentucky. Of course we had to stop and eat somewhere 🙂

We did that when my kids were growing up, and still do it.

  18. Like Deb, I was trying to decide if that was a “living statue” or a regular statue. I saw that it’s a sculpture in your response to her. Well done!

I love Shawshank Redemption so much.

My aunt and uncle did the Whole 30 diet a few years ago. About a week in, my uncle was dreaming about Cinnamon Toast Crunch. That cracked me up! Out of all the food he could dream about, he dreamed about cereal? 😀

I have to admit that all the overcast days we’ve had in Alaska have me missing the sun but I don’t miss that kind of heat and humidity. My in-laws live in Naples and they practically hibernate in the AC from about May – October.

    Enjoy your week!

    • That is a funny food to dream about, I’d have been dreaming about Mexican food or chicken

My cousin and his wife live in Naples. Our temp and humidity is usually higher than in Naples because they are closer to the beach.
