Outside…
I thought I lived in Florida but the last few days has been COLD, especially in the mornings. Yesterday and today I had to let my car warm up until the frost on my windows melted. We had freeze warnings both nights and it was only 32° at 6:30 am. If I’m going to live where it gets so cold, I WANT SOME SNOW!

Reading…
I’ve given up, I can’t seem to finish a book so I’m taking a few days break and will start over next year

Listening To…
I’m doing a little better listening to audio books and am half way through The Christmas Train by David Baldacci. I’m enjoying it and hopefully I’ll be done before the end of the year 🙂

Books Reviewed Last Week…
Ø

Watched…
I watched It’s A Wonderful Life (original b&w) all the way through for the first time, and it was very good! I also watched Almost Christmas, very funny and a bit sad

In The Kitchen This Week…
Haven’t thought about it much but will probably try a new recipe I saw… 3-Ingredient Pizza Crescent Rolls. I also want to make a turkey breast in the slow cooker, and of course for New Years I’ll make Black Eyed Peas & Snaps with ham (mine with a little stewed tomatoes mixed up in them), corn bread, cabbage, mac & cheese (?) & brownies

New To Me Stuff:
I’ve never been a fan of Cranberry Sauce but my son wanted some that was homemade so I made some for Christmas. It was SO easy and so much better than canned

Today’s To Do List…
I don’t plan on doing anything other than watch some movies and maybe read

Looking forward to…
2021, praying it’s better than 2020 was
Joining a few reading challenges & making them a priority

A Favorite Bible Verse…
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit

  1. I live in Georgia and feel the same way – we’ve been below freezing in the mornings since Christmas Day (it barely got above freezing on Christmas Day). I listened to The Christmas Train a few years ago and enjoyed it. I’ve been focusing on that verse for the past month. I hope you have a happy new year.

    • Shouldn’t be that cold in Florida or Georgia! I’m enjoying The Christmas Train, I’m at the part with the snake now. I love that verse! Thank you Donna, I hope you have a great 2021!

  2. I was so happy to find cranberries this year–I don’t always find them here–so I could pop some bags in the freezer and make cranberry jam. I’ll make some orange cranberry muffins soon. Looks like Jensen had a happy day!

    • Cranberry jam and Orange Cranberry Muffins sound wonderful! I need to go back to the store and get more so I can make some. Publix has them BOGO right now!

Jensen is one of the most happy babies I’ve ever seen! She’s got a smile on her face or laughing 90% of the time.

  3. Christmas with little ones is so much fun! In Southern California we actually have and overcast day and sprinkles today while you have the cold. So unusual! have a great week.

  4. We had mild weather instead. All the snow melted and I was able to go walking in my running shoes. Jensen is such a cutie!

I’ve been watching more TV lately too, especially Poldark. I hope you get your reading mojo back soon.

    • The weather is getting back to normal already 🙂

Thanks, Jensen is such a happy baby!

I don’t know what Poldark is about, I’ll have to check it out.

  5. I hope you had a very nice holiday and I totally agree, praying for a better 2021!
Can’t wait to hear what reading challenges you’ll be joining next year. I plan to join several as well.

    • I hope you had a nice holiday also, and hope you have a Happy New Year!

I just posted my reading challenges for 2021. I’ll be looking to see which challenges you’ll be doing.

  6. What a smile your great grandbaby has!! Christmas is so much greater when there are little ones around.

I watched Wonderful Life several times when I was a kid and for some reason decided I didn’t like it. Fast forward literally five decades and I watched it again and for some reason I liked it.

    • Jensen is smiling, cooing etc. 90% of the time. The other 10% is spent sleeping or wanting fed etc.

I loved Wonderful Life. I plan on watching it every year during the Christmas fseason rom now on.

  7. Your great-grandbaby is a cutie!

My in-laws have been complaining of the cold in Naples, FL this week as well. My parents had about 6″ of unexpected snow in NC on Christmas Day. My husband and I are currently in southern California with his job and we’ve become intolerant of the cold. We complain if the weather is below about 55 degrees!

I listened to The Christmas Train a few years ago and enjoyed it pretty well.

Happy New Year! Enjoy your week!

    • Thank you Jen, we all think she is adorable! I have relatives in Naples and it usually has warm weather this time of all year.

I only have 55 more min. of The Christmas Train and am loving it! I can’t wait to find out what the ending is.

Happy New Year! Only a few more days and it will be “so long 2020”! Praying 2021 will be much better!

  8. It’s a Wonderful Life is my favorite Christmas movie. It reminds me every year that we are all parts of something bigger, and that our little lives are important to others. Glad you got to see it for the first time.

It’s been cold here in Texas, too. I think we will see some warmer temps this week, though.

    That beautiful Jensen!

I join you in praying for a happier 2021!

    • It’s A Wonderful Life was a great movie!

It’s warming up here so I guess I shouldn’t complain about a few cold days 🙂

Thanks, Jensen is a bright spot in this terrible year!

      Yes to a better 2021!

  9. Jensen is adorable! I hope it warms up for you. I live in the frigid upper midwest and its cold without any snow (yet). Have a good final week of 2020!

    • Thanks Mary, we think she’s adorable too!

It did warm up quite a bit and is supposed to be a bit warmer every day this week and next.

I grew up in Ohio and I really miss the snow. I didn’t mind the cold up there, it was supposed to be cold in the winter, but it’s not supposed to be cold in Florida 🙂

I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!

  10. I love cranberries especially muffins.

  11. Jensen is such a pretty baby. She looks so happy.

I took a break from blogging and reading and everything for a bit and I was glad. Come back to the reading in 2021. Maybe join a few challenges. This upcoming year I am going to do the nonfiction challenge with ShellyRae and the historical fiction challenge at Intrepid Reader.

It’s been cold here too. We had several freezing morings of 29 F and the birds are begging for the feeders t be filled.

    • Thanks Tina, she is a very happy baby.

I posted the challenges I plan on doing in 2021. I may add a few more but so far that’s it. I planned on joining Foodie’s Read but I can’t find it so I don’t know if she’s going to do it again.

A squirrel chewed a big hole in my feeder so I had to order another one. It still needs to be hung up along with the new bird bath I bought.

I hope you and your family have a Happy New Year!

  13. First of all, Jensen is too cute.

Fresh cranberry sauce is the way to go! I am the only one in the house who loves it. The rest prefer canned and must have it or it’s not the holidays.

I finished my last book of the year and now I am just relaxing. I didn’t want to feel pressure to read more just to up my numbers.

It’s a Wonderful Life in B&W is also the way to go. It’s a sweet film and will grow on you as you watch it each year.

Our Christmas was great as the power was turned back on just in time. Oh! I was not in a good mood Christmas Eve. No one was. We were all cold and cranky and staring at one another. Even our pup thought we didn’t pay the bill or something and was irked at being cold.

    • I always bought canned cranberry sauce because my husband liked the jellied. This year my son wanted homemade so I tried it. It was SO EASY! And he said it was the best he’s every had! That put a smile on his momma’s face 🙂

I watched IAWL in b&w, I may watch it in color just to see what it looks like but I enjoyed the original a lot.

Poor pup, and you all too. I don’t do well with no electricity! I’m glad it came back on in time for Christmas Day. Where we used to live we were at the end of the line and it took FOREVER for them to get to us. We were out for weeks many times due to hurricanes.

  14. Jensen is beautiful! Hoping 2021 brings some normalcy (and I’d be happy to send you some snow!) 🙂
