Thoughts
This book was just what I needed when I needed a break from 2020. The story had a calming effect on me and I loved getting to know the Holy Man named Joe and the others at the hermitage and in the town below.
In the summer, thousands of people trek up the mountain single file to get to the hermitage so that they can see and talk to the Holy Man for just a minute or two. He always knows what to say and makes such a huge impact on them that some of them climb that mountain over and over.
There was quite a bit more to the story, including when a long time friend of Joe’s comes to visit him and brings her husband and children. I don’t want to give away too much but believe me, this story was so interesting. It made me laugh and even shed a few tears. I listened to it every chance I got, even while trying to fall asleep. I will probably listen to it again in the future.
One of the messages I loved the most was that the people in your life are the most valuable thing you’ll ever have.
I love that there were 4 narrators and all of them did a great job.
I’m intrigued by your thoughts. I hadn’t heard of this one.
I really enjoyed it. It was an escape from all the negativity and stress.
This audio book sounds like my cup of tea, too! Terrific review, Vicki!
Thanks Susan!
I’ve enjoyed a few audible originals. This sounds interesting!
I loved it. It was different than anything I’ve read and the story was very interesting.
I’ll have to add this to my library! I love Stanley Tucci and bet he makes a great reader.
He did an excellent job Les!
New to me too. Enjoyed your review.
Thanks Mystica!
The story sounds familiar, so I am wondering if I read a similar one at some point years ago.
It’s good to have something that lets us escape from 2020 for a while!!!
Definitely! This book helped me escape 2020 for a time and I really enjoyed that, and the book.
I heard of the book but didn’t know what it was about. Nice review, Vicki and now I know something about it. 🙂
I first saw it on Audible and grabbed a copy because it sounded so different, and I wasn’t disappointed.
