From the camera…
The last time we went to Ohio, we drove. I was taking photos out the window and saw something move on the dash, it was a reflection on my daughter’s phone of me taking the photos

  1. Fun pic 🙂
I called as soon as I heard salons were opening and the first available appointment is June 7th. I grabbed it but wow do I wish it wasn’t so far off.

  2. I am waiting to get my haircut. My hairdresser, I’ve heard, doesn’t use masks, and that worries me.

I don’t think I realized how often I would run to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things I didn’t have on hand. I don’t do that now, of course. I have to find substitutes, and that is difficult.

I’m reading and reviewing a lot, but I feel like I’m not reading as carefully as I once did.

I hope you have a good week.

    • I’ve been ordering too and I don’t like when they substitute something without messaging you first to see if it’s ok. I ordered baked beans one time and they gave me kidney beans!

      Stay safe!

  3. Nice creative photo, Vicki. Glad it caught your eye. 🙂

  4. Hello my lovely friend! Now I see you 🙂
I can’t wait for a haircut but I think I will until mid June. If I weren’t so streaky gray it would be great, do or do not, just turn all gray, lol.
I’m very behind in my reviews.
Been ill, had an ER visit on Mother’s day of all times! Hoping antibiotics will take care of everything and during the last few weeks I’ve amused myself reading but… not as much posting or writing.

Your chicken vegetable soup sou ds fantastic!

    • I hope you’re feeling better soon! Eat some chicken noodle soup, everyone tells me it really does help you get better faster.

  5. The beauty of thick curly hair is I can cut it myself and even if it’s a bit uneven you can’t really tell, as for the grey, a box colour works just fine for me 🙂

Wishing you a great reading week

    • My hair has always been very straight but surprisingly it can hold a perm for a very long time. I’m starting to go gray too but I don’t plan on coloring it. My daughter and granddaughter color their hair all the time (different colors) and they have no gray.

Thanks, I wish you a great reading week too!

  6. Despite that our salons opened a few days ago and despite that my hair REALLY needs it, I’m waiting for at least 3 more weeks to see what happens! I’m a senior and want to be more cautious! That Zoo Story looks interesting! I just took a peek at the reviews at Amazon! i love making dirty rice! Have a good week!

    • My hair cut. I used to never get my hair cut but now that I’m getting older I think it should be shorter.

I didn’t even know there was a book about Zoo Tampa. We’ve been going there for over 30 yrs.

  7. I love Dr. Pepper and had no idea I could get baked beans! I only get about 2 haircuts a year, but it is time for me to get a box of color for sure. I can wait out the salons all summer, lol.

    • I love Dr. Pepper too but didn’t love the baked beans 🙁

I need my hair cut shorter for work and I’m overdue. I’ve been putting it in a twisty but I don’t like to do that.

  8. Nice to see you, Vicki! I need a hair cut too but I think I’m going to wait a bit longer. Hope you have a great week ahead!

  9. What a fun photo!

  10. Love your photo! So, I got my hair cut on Saturday. It was great! I wore a mask and she wore a mask and she didn’t wash my hair because I had just done that. Told her we could skip the wash and that way she wouldn’t have me sitting in her shampoo chair. She trimmed it very short, which is what I asked for. Didn’t blow it dry – no product at all. We visited a bit and caught up with what was going on with her. She’s moving to a new location, but I shared that she’s a one-woman shop and so her new location will be the same. Just her in a room with her own style chair and a shampoo chair. She had her tablet covered with a disposable cover that she changed after I did what I needed to do to pay. Well prepared and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes – with short hair. I felt like my longtime stylist did a great job with my needs and we kept each other safe. Wish everything worked that easily.

    Have a good weekend!

    • I’m glad you finally got to have your hair cut! I will soon. I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend, and that you have a great week!

  11. Somehow I never discovered Tampa had a zoo when we were there one summer. I definitely would have gone as I love zoos! My son had his haircut earlier this week and not a moment to soon! It was pretty bad. Luckily I have long thick hair so while it’s not at its best I can at least manageable. Have a great week!

    • It was named Lowry Park Zoo as far back as I can remember and I don’t know why they changed the name to Zoo Tampa. I like the original name more. We’ve gone there for years. My kids (oldest 2 are in their early 40’s) went there sometimes on school field trips, that’s how I learned about it.

  12. Love that picture Vicki. Our salons open tomorrow but, I’m waiting as well to see how things go. My husband is in more compromised health and I’ve had a bum knee going on week 3, but I see the specialist again this week. Have a good week.

    • I hope your knee is a fast and simple fix. I’ve had problems with my left knee for years due to a fall, and then another fall a few years ago. At least the second fall was on the same knee and didn’t mess up my good one 🙂

  13. I have rescheduled my hair appt twice. This last time she offered to do my hair in her home but I was like, I can wait.

I love that Dirty Rice dish. Long ago it had gluten in it and I had to stop making it but it doesn’t anymore and we make it with ground turkey sometimes too. Both are good.

  14. I didn’t like the Dirty Rice as much as I did the Jambalaya. It seemed to me that the Jambalaya had more flavor.

  15. Vicki, I am late to read this and hope you are having a good week! I have a haircut appointment in early June. I love soup dinners. Enjoy your reading this week!

  16. I still haven’t made an appointment to get my hair cut, soon though! I hop you’re having a great week!

  17. I am getting my hair cut on Wednesday. But, I’m only doing it because she is wiping everything down, will wear a mask and gloves, and she and I will be alone in the salon
