Sunday Reflections

Today the high is supposed to be 88° with a 20% chance of rain. But… yesterday my 2 cats woke me up a little before 3am and again at 5am, knocking on my bedroom door. Yes, you read that right, they were knocking on my door! There was a storm on it’s way and I guess the sensed it. Both of them and my dog, get scared when it storms. The cats run under my bed and Kaiyo wants to be held. I had to get ready for work though 🙁   so my son took Kaiyo into his room with him until he had to start getting ready for work

I’m still struggling with that!

  1. Have a wonderful week and stay safe!

  2. I hope the storm passed quickly.
Notes From A Public Typewriter does look interesting

Wishing you a great reading week, be well xx

    • I stormed on and off for a few hours but wasn’t very bad.
Notes From A Public Typewriter is so good, and I love the idea!

      Wishing you the same!

  3. I’m glad you’re safe from the storm. A possible tornado touched down close to our son yesterday but he’s fine. I loved Notes From a Public Typewriter too.

    • So glad your son is ok! Tornado’s are no joke. The idea of sitting a typewriter out for anyone to type whatever they want is fascinating to me. I’m loving this book!

  4. We had crazy winds here with really hot weather, which always make us worry that we’ll have fires. Luckily there was no damage beyond eucalyptus tree branches falling (no injuries). Today should be mid-70s, which sounds fantastic. Have a great Sunday!

    • We’ve had quite a few days of either storms or hot and muggy weather. I like it warm but not hot and/or humid. So why in the world am I living in Florida?

  5. I thought Notes from a Public Typewriter was good, too. It would be fun to have a chalkboard somewhere and to let people write thoughts on it. I even thought about using chalk on the sidewalk at the track to write encouraging notes, but I thought I might need to ask city officials first.

You certainly did some great cooking this week. I feel like we have been cooking well here, too.

I’m so looking forward to the end of the virus and returning to normal life.

    • Why don’t you ask the city officials? I’d love for you to post what people wrote!

I cooked for so many years and for so many people that cooking is not on my favorite things. But, ya gotta eat!

I agree with you about the virus. I need a hub from my kids and grandkids, and a day at the beach with my daughter. And a haircut. I definitely need a haircut.

  6. Hope your week goes well, Vicki. Love that pillow!

  7. Poor critters! We adopted a senior cat about 10 years ago now, who had lived with one person his whole life. She got really sick and couldn’t keep him, so had to surrender him to the pound. He was quite skittish, but would come out from the closet or under the bed once a day and sit with our daughter for an hour or so. It took him a while to get comfortable (and to rule the roost–LOL), but he finally did. Then one day, I saw him running, terrified, looking for a place to hide. I was trying to figure out what was wrong. Eventually, he came out again, but the next day, the same thing happened. Then I realised–it was the music from the ice cream truck that scared him. Poor little guy.

  8. Notes from a Public Typewriter is great, isn’t it? So glad you are enjoying that. I am ready for the virus to be over too. When can we go back to the bookstore and hanging out with friends. Great job on getting in your steps!

  9. My dog is scared of storms too. She mostly just hides in the basement and gets really bad gas until the storm is over. I hope you have a good week!

  10. It’s been pretty windy and too much rain last few weeks. Not a fan of damp and raw temps either, Hoping for warmer weather.

Our 2 cats wake us up at 5-5:30 every morning by opening doors to closets leaping to high chests, playing with blinds – you name it – so annoying. I get up and feed them them I’m up and they go back to sleep LOL

    • Yesterday it was really hot and today it’s cool, but at least the rain has stopped for now.

Your cat story sounds very familiar Diane! They can be very annoying but I love them both so much!

  11. Oh I love the pillow! I thought I was the only one who had a cat who was afraid of storms! I feel so bad for him as he just freezes and looks like he’s convinced the world is end. I’ve had dogs that were afraid of storms and it was always pitiful but at least I could halfway comfort them. The cat isn’t having it. Have a great week!

    • Thanks, I love the pillow too! Yes, my dog wants to be held but the cats find a hiding spot, usually in my closet or under my bed. And they will not come out no matter what, until they are sure the storm is over.

  12. That brand name of those beans is too cute.

I have pulled pork in the crock for sliders later.

It’s have been really hot here all of a sudden, 98 or so. Too hot for me.

  13. Vicki, that pillow is terrific! I hope your week is off to a good start. 🙂

    • Thanks! I LOVE the pillow! She said she was just looking around the store and as soon as she saw it she knew she had to buy it for me.

  14. I’m loving your pillow!!

I’m ready for the virus thing to be over as well.

We have a couple dogs who are very nervous but we’ve got them trained to go the crate and that seems to help.

    • I love the pillow too!

I’m hearing some places are going to start opening up again where I live. I still plan on wearing a mask etc.

Sometimes my cats hide so good I can’t find them, but sooner or later they come out from hiding.
