Sunday Reflections

Linking up with:
Sunday Salon
Sunday Post

Outside…
Supposed to be in the 90’s today with a high humidity and 40% chance of rain

Thankful…
That my car a/c was a simple free fix and I didn’t have to go a day or so without it. Turns out my glove compartment had a paper in it that was blocking the Cabin Air Filter

Reading…
I’ve been on again off again with A Beach Wish by Shelley Noble (not because the book didn’t keep my attention, I’ve just been extra busy lately)  so I’m still reading it

Listening To…
Only One Life by Ashley Farley

Books Reviewed Last Week…
Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom

Books Needing Reviewed…
Magnolia Table: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering by Joanna Gaines

From The Library…
An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good by Helene Tursten

Beneath a Ruthless Sun: A True Story of Violence, Race, and Justice Lost and Found by Gilbert King

Watching…
This week I plan on watching Chasing Happiness, the story of the Jonas Brothers, The movie Corner Gas, and catch up on Big Brother

Mind Body Spirit…
It’s been 4 years since I’ve had my eyes checked so I really need to get that done

In The Kitchen…
On the menu so far are Crazy Cuisine Orange Chicken & Spaghetti

New To Me Stuff:
I’ve had more than a few Crock Pots in the last 45 years and they’ve always been my very favorite kitchen appliance, but last week my latest one started having issues and since I’ve been wanting to try an Instant Pot I decided to buy one of those instead. I haven’t used it yet but I’m searching for recipes. If you have an IP, what are your favorite recipes?

Today’s To Do List…
Going to Costco for groceries and may go out to eat first

Looking forward to…
Less humid weather

A Favorite Bible Verse…
LORD my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me
Psalm 30:2

From the camera…

  1. Who knew a paper in the glovebox could affect the air conditioning?

    Where’d you see the manatees?

  2. You’ve had a big week!

I’ll be interested in seeing if you like the InstaPot as well as you liked your crockpots. I’m a huge crockpot user, so I don’t see myself replacing mine any time soon.

I checked out An Elderly Lady this week, too. Impulsively, I handed it off to a friend in need of a good book, so I’ll have to wait until she has finished to read it myself.

Magnolia Table looks lovely. I hope you will review that one soon.

    • I loved my crockpots too and have decided I can’t do without one. I’ll use the Instant Pot for everything else but for slow cooker recipes I’ll still use a crock pot.

I plan on reviewing Magnolia Table this week.

  3. Those manatees are cute!
An Elderly Lady is Up To No Good sounds like fun.
I don’t have an instant pot, the next appliance on my wishlist is an air fryer.

Wishing you a great reading week

  4. i love the manatees. i always love being at the beach.

  5. Glad your ac was a simple fix!
I’ll be at Costco next weekend… I do love shopping at Costco.
I hope you have a good week!

  6. I’m glad the AC in the car was an easy fix! I need to get my eye exam scheduled. Love the manatee photo!

  7. Love the Manatees … we see them in the wild in Florida, but it is very hard to get pictures! (The water around our cottage is not real clear). The book “an old lady is up to no good” sounds like one this old lady should read!

  8. So many of us had our cars in for repairs this week. I’m happy yours wasn’t as involved as mine was. My weekly update

    • I’ve been lucky with my car. It’s a 2014 and the only thing I’ve had to do is replace the battery (last month) and the tires, but I used to drive a lot of miles for work. Of course I do the regular maintenance like oil change etc. And of course since we have a few months of rainy season and hurricanes I’ve had to replace the wipers.

  9. Vicki,
It sounds like you’ve had a good Sunday and weekend. I don’t have an Instant Pot, but I have two crock pots. (I may need to replace the larger one.) Love the Manatee photo! Have a great week ahead!

    • I’m ridicuously obsessed with crock pots. I have an 8qt., 6qt., 3qt. and two of the Crock-Pot Trio Cook and Serve Slow Cooker and Food Warmers.

  10. Glad all you had to do was move some paper! I love my IP but I don’t use it for a crock pot. Still, I’ve been using a pressure cooker every single week for about 25 years. So you know I love it.

    • Yes, I wish all fixes were that easy 🙂

Wow, that’s a lot of pressure cooking! My mom used one all the time when I was growing up but I’ve never used one before. I’m excited to use it though

Do you mind telling me why you don’t use it for a crock pot?.

  11. The A/C fix was excellent! We all hope for a simple fix such as that. Niiiice!

I enjoyed Tuesdays with Morriie. Sad but well written in my opinion.
The Instant Pot is Doug’s device and he has made some great meals. The chicken and cream with mushrooms is good as is the pork and apples. I have an IP tab on my blog if you want those recipes.

    Great manatee photo.

    • I’m not a fan of mushrooms so I won’t be making that. We love pork but I’ve never made it with apples so that is a yes. Thanks for the tab info. I’ll be checking it out.

      Thanks, I love Manatees!

  12. A Beach Wish sounds good. I hope you have a great week!

  13. I’m curious about An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good.

    Enjoy your week.

  14. The paper in the cabin air filter thing happened to my husband but not before he carved a hole in the compartment with a box cutter to find out what the noise was. I almost died.

  15. Gosh, can I just say that the title An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good just REALLY gets me. I am cackling over it. A little too much. It’s just fun/cute.

  16. I don’t have an Insta Pot but my daughter does and loves it. I do like my crock pot, especially in fall and winter.

    • A few days ago I joined two FB IP recipe groups and everyone raves about theirs. I still haven’t used mine yet, trying to decide on a recipe.
