Turtle in Paradise

Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm

June 1935
Rotten Kids

Everyone thinks children are sweet as Necco Wafers, but I’ve lived long enough to know the truth: kids are rotten. The only difference between grown-ups and kids is that grown-ups go to jail for murder. Kids get away with it.

I stare out the window as Mr. Edgit’s Ford Model A rumbles along the road, kicking up clouds of dust. It’s so hot that the backs of my legs feel like melted gum, only stickier. We’ve been driving for days now; it feels like eternity.

I started listening to this book today. What do you think? Would you keep reading?

Turtle in Paradise by Jennifer L. Holm”

  1. Kids are rotten lol They would and do probably get away with more, yes! Sounds like an interesting read!

  2. WOW, the cover and the intro don’t seem to go together LOL Curious

  3. That opening really grabbed my attention.

  4. The opening sentences certainly got my attention and I agree with Diane the cover and intro don’t seem to match.

  5. Sounds interesting and as Diane says there appears to be a big mismatch between content and cover!

  6. The first paragraph made me smile.

  7. I’d keep going if the reader was good. There have been many times that I’ve downloaded an audiobook from the library that sounds really good, but the reader grates on my nerves.

  8. This looks good and I love the cover.

  9. It’s really good! I love the cover too!
