Sunday Reflections

I live in the city limits of a small town and we have chickens that run around freely. Right now one of them (yes, hens can crow too) is letting us know it’s time to wake up. It’s 67° right now, supposed to get up to 90°, and no rain is expected.

That my daughter is feeling much better, she had a severe allergic reaction to an antibiotic.

Kitchen Yarns: Notes on Life, Love, and Food by Ann Hood. Picking it up Tuesday.

Listening To…
Fat Chance by Nick Spalding

I had never watched The Good Doctor so last night I decided to watch the  pilot episode and it was really good so I watched the first 3 episodes and will watch the rest to get caught up.

Mind Body Spirit…
I found a meditation app called Insight Timer that I really like.

In The Kitchen…
Not sure what today’s menu is, but a few Keto recipes throughout the week.

New To Me Stuff:
I was at WM one day and saw a discount cart so I wondered over and took a look to check it out. I saw something I have never seen before and it kinda grossed me out. There were two boxes of coffee. Mushroom Coffee. Yes, mushroom coffee, the brand was Four Sigmatic.  What? Have you ever heard of this before? No, I did not buy them. Yuck!

 To Do List…
I got my car washed a few days ago but the only thing I did inside it was vacuumn, so today I plan on cleaning the inside. I also have laundry to do and need to shampoo the rug in my bedroom. Then I plan on watching a documentary and read.

A Favorite Bible Verse…
Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

From the camera…

  1. Being new to your blog, this was a nice entry for me, a getting to know you of sorts!! I am interested in the meditation app, I’m going to look in to that!!

We watched the good doctor and enjoyed it as well!! Manifest is another good show we have been watching!!

  2. Taking prescription drugs is kind of scary, isn’t it? I’m glad your daughter is better.

We’ve had a few days of spring and seem to be heading right into summer. I want spring to last longer.

I need to vacuum my car – maybe I’ll get to that today.

    • Yes, I’ve never liked taking medicine of any kind. It’s been warm for a few days but we seem to be going back and forth from warm, to cold, to hot. Crazy weather!

  3. Glad your daughter is doing good. No, on the mushroom coffee, gross is the right word to describe it. Ninety degrees is way too hot for me. Have a nice rest of the day and new week,

    • Thanks Bill, she’s doing much better. I had to look long at that coffee, I thought I’d read it wrong. I hope you have a great week too!

  4. Vicki,
I’m glad that your daughter is feeling better now.
Mushroom coffee?! I’ve not seen that here yet.
I hope you had a wonderful Sunday, Vicki.

  5. We love The Good Doctor so much! What are incredible actor he is. Mushroom coffee? No thanks LOL

  6. Hope you enjoy Kitchen Yarns as much as I did!

  7. That’s scary, about your daughter’s reaction to the antibiotic., If I absolutely need a medicine I’ll take it but I don’t taking prescription drugs. A statin almost killed me!

Yuck to the mushroom coffee! I like mushrooms and I like coffee but that’s a marriage that should never have happened!

Kitchen Yarns is on my list.

    • That’s what my daughter in law said about the coffee. She loves mushrooms and coffee. When we order pizza she always gets one with just mushrooms and cheese but she said that sounds gross.

  8. Yes, Mushroom Coffee is a thing. It’s supposed to be really good for you. Out here butter coffee is a thing. Organic coffee blended with pure organic butter.

I was worried about the possibility of a reaction when my daughter was given antibiotics before her wisdom tooth extraction. She had only been on a Z pack before… never Amox and that is what they gave her but she was okay. It’s very scary, combined with general anesthesia.

  9. Glad your daughter is feeling better. Reactions to meds are scary! That’s too funny about the coffee. I actually have heard of it because they sell it at Sephora and I’ve been thinking about buying it! It’s supposed to give you extra energy and just have a slight earthy taste so not mushroomy. I have a sample of the mushroom hot chocolate that’s supposed to help you sleep but I haven’t tried it!

    • No to the coffee and hot chocolate. Everyone has different tastes so I’m sure there are a lot of people who love it. They can have mine.
