Sunday Reflections

Outside…
81° and a sky full of big fluffy clouds. There’s a slight breeze but it feels hotter than 81°

Thankful…
For having tomorrow off so I can go through more of my kitchen stuff. Before we moved I had a huge kitchen and dining room with a lot of cabinets and drawers and a big panrty. Now my kitchen is a lot smaller so I’m deciding what I want to keep in the kitchen and what can stay in boxes in the garage until my son builds me a pantry off the kitchen.

Reading…
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer by Fredrik Backman which is waiting for me at the library.  Unfortunately it’s closed on Sun. & Mon. so I’ll pick it up on Tuesday.

Listening To…
Getting ready to start What I Talk about When I Talk about Running by Haruki Murakami.

Watching…
I’ve been on a documentary kick lately and tomorrow I plan on watching The Far Green Country.

Mind Body Spirit…
Need more sleep, need to drink more water, need to go to the beach.

In The Kitchen…
Tonight I’m making pork chops, mashed potatoes & corn, and pork stuffing.

New To Me Stuff:
I tried some Japanese candy that a friend at work gave me and it was really good, it tasted like Guava.

Looking forward to…
Next weekend because I have Friday, Saturday, & Sunday off.

A Favorite Bible Verse…
1 Corinthians 16:14
Let all that you do be done in love.

From the camera…
Tina, this is my countertop. You can’t see them but there are bits of sparkles in it. The name is Luna Pearl.

  1. I like your favorite bible verse today, love seems to be lacking these days in the world. Nice countertop, looks abstract.
    Have a wonderful evening, Vicki.

    • Yes, love is not much in the air today. People are more rude than ever and get offended by everything. Very sad.

I hope you have a great evening too Bill!

  2. It’s about the same temperature here, too, but definitely feels warmer. I was at the beach with my daughter for a couple of hours this afternoon reading and chatting… so peaceful! Love that your son is building you a pantry! My FL kitchen is so much smaller and I have to keep some pots and pans in the bedroom closet, lol.

    • My kitchen is about 1/3 the size of my old one. Takes a bit of adjusting. In fact, the whole house is about 1/3 the size of the old one.

  3. Pretty countertop Vicki. The people we bought our condo from redid the kitchen and I have a huge amount of storage space – it was very well designed with plenty of extra drawers and doors added into the island and well as tall cabinets – I took no time filling it though LOL

    • I know what you mean about filling it! I too filled my huge kitchen cabinet’s and drawers and now have no room for most of it. I will shortly though thanks to my son.

  4. Happy Sunday, Vicki! Your countertop must be gorgeous! I can’t wait to read your thoughts about What I Talk about When I Talk about Running by Haruki Murakami. Have a great week ahead!

    • I love the countertop, it’s so pretty. I’m really enjoying the audio of the book. I’m half way through it and wish it was longer 🙁

  5. Ha on the temperatures! We are getting snow flurries today. Sigh. That documentary looks really good.

    • I live in a town whose population increases 3 times or more due to “snowbirds” coming in the winter. They’re usually mostly gone by this time of the year but with all the crazy weather most of them are still here.

  6. Oh, I love that counter top. We are trying to decide what to do in the kitchen and i know I’d like some pretty counter top too. Thanks for telling me the name, Luna Pearl. We will most likely start renovations ion the bathrooms but the kitchen needs the updating!

A pantry would be nice. You should do before and after photos.

I like Fredrik Backman too. Need to check that book out too.

    • Thanks Tina! I had a few picked out but decided to go with Luna Pearl and I’m happy I did. We remodled the whole house, the bathroom and I’m very happy with it. It took forever but it was worth it. I love living in town!

  7. I really enjoyed Murakami’s running book. At the time, it made me want to take up running which is laughable if you knew me in real life.
