Sunday Reflections

Outside…
63° with a slight chance of rain and a high of 87°

Thankful…
That we finally got moved! My son Anthony did a total remodel and it took for ev er since he could only work on the house on the weekends. This was the first time he’s ever done any type of work like this and I’m so proud of him, he did a great job! I’m also so very thankful for my son Jeremy, daughter in law Susie, and their 2 kids. They live next door and let us stay with them while we finished up the house so we could move in. They helped us paint the inside of the house, and Susie put almost all of the tv stands, dressers, beds etc.  that we bought from IKEA together by herself.  She also did most of the trim by herself. Anthony hooked up my washer and dryer yesterday so I’m thrilled! I’ve still been  using Jeremy and Susie’s.

Reading…
Not much, I seem to be in a print reading slump and I’m about 5 books behind on reviews.

Listening To…
Melinda and the Wild West: A Family Saga in Bear Lake, Idaho #1
by Linda Weaver Clarke

Watching…
Same shows as I usually do but am patiently waiting for The Village to start on the 19th.

Mind Body Spirit…
Other than work I’ve not been doing much other than unpacking and figuring out where to put stuff. It’s hard moving to a house that’s 1/3 of what you used to live in.

In The Kitchen…
It took way longer than I thought it would to get the measuring for the granite countertop done, and then for them to install it, but it’s done now and I’m loving it! Tina, I’ll take a photo of the granite and try to post it next week.

New To Me Stuff:
Jeremy & Susie are eating the Keto way so while staying with them that’s what we ate. I really liked it and so did Anthony so we’re sticking with it.

Looking forward to…
Going to a Boz Scaggs concert next month, thank you Tina!

A Favorite Bible Verse…
“He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”
Psalm 62:6

  1. How wonderful that the renovation is done and that your son was able to do it all. We’ve had to hire people to do a few things around the house lately and it’s been awful. My husband normally does everything but he hasn’t been able to do anything thanks to work. No one ever does as good a job as you do. Good luck with the settling in!

    • Thanks Katherine! We did hire someone to cut a HUGE 35 ft. tree down that was right in front of the door and to put new windows, garage & front doors in. It was ridicuously expensive!

  2. I know it’s got to be a relief to be in your new home. I’m glad you’re loving it!

  3. It’s wonderful that your family helped with getting the new home ready for you.

  4. How great the whole family came together to help with the reno. I bet its beautiful!
    Love the pic.

  5. Vicki,
Congratulations on your move! It sounds wonderful. I hope it is starting to feel like home. Have a terrific week ahead!

    • It felt like home to me from the time we moved in. It took the animals, especially the two cats a week or so. They don’t like change very much.

You have a great week too!

  6. A family project made your new home a place built with love 🙂 This is an awesome post and I can’t wait to see your new counter tops. Hope you enjoy the concert, can’t believe we are almost halfway through with March!

I’m behind in reviews but I am loving The Moroccan girl by Charles Cumming. Can’t put it down.

    • Yes to all you said about the house 🙂 I can’t wait for the concert, my daughter and I are so excited!

Can’t wait for your review of The Moroccan Girl.

  7. You will be so happy that you have less to take care of in the future. Many of my friends are retiring now and all of them are purchasing spaces that are much smaller than their original homes. We have always had a small house, but it feels perfect for us now at this stage of our lives.

I’m not at all surprised that you might be a bit behind in your reading and reviewing! Don’t worry. It will all get done.

    • You are 100% right Deb! I’m already loving a smaller house. We now use every room instead of having rooms that were never used. Cleaning is so much easier and quicker. Even though every room is a whole lot smaller, it’s still enough room for just me and my son. The yard is a lot smaller too. We went from an acre to a city lot.

I had to make a list for the books I’ve finished so I wouldn’t forget any of them 🙂

  8. it will feel so good once you are completely settled but a remodel sounds wonderful to me. I love fresh paint. Take some pics when you are settled.

My entire church seems to be doing Keto. I could do it easily since I am gluten free already and not much of a sugar fan but my family would boycott.

  9. Vicki,
Gorgeous photo! I am glad the remodel is over and that you can enjoy your home. Have a wonderful week.

  10. Thank you Susan, I hope you have a great week too!
