I saw this @ My Little Corner Of The World

The narthex – full of people who were excited for this special day.

an antechamber, porch, or distinct area at the western entrance of some early Christian churches, separated off by a railing and used by catechumens, penitents, etc.
an antechamber or large porch in a modern church.

I’ve been to a lot of different churches over the years but none of them had a narthex.

  1. I knew that was part of a church but didn’t know it was on the western side. Now, I’m wondering why that is.

  2. I also knew narthex as our church (before we retired) had a narthex. It was used for the part od the service when babies were baptized and other special occasions. This was an old church built in the 1860s. The narthex was in the south portion of the building. It was Presbyterian, so maybe denomination makes a difference.

  3. I learned something new today.
