This was such an easy question for me to answer. My favorite children’s book hasn’t changed since I was 3 years old. I can remember my mom or older sisters reading to me and when my mom read Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman my love of books was solidified. I loved that book and have never forgotten about it. In fact, I’ve talked about my love of this book so much over the years that my son & husband found a copy of the book which had the stuffed dog on the cover and bought them for me as part of a birthday present one year. I was thrilled…it was one of the best gifts I’ve ever received, and I still have them on display.
What a great gift!
I agree!
My fave book from when I was little is The Giving Tree.
I gotta tell ya, some children’s books are not fun to read out loud to kids. Are You My Mother was a great one to read but I remember so many Seuss books that were so repetitive they killed me to read them out loud. And all those horrible Disney books that truncated the fairy tales into non nonsensical stories. Those were seriously hard to read too because the publishers assumed kids did not need to have details.
I liked those Pigeon books and Fancy Nancy was a hit with my daughter.
I’ve never read those but Fancy Nancy sound familiar so mI think my daughter must have read them.
Vicki,
That story is very touching. What a great gift! 🙂
Best gift ever for the book lover in me!
Are You My Mother is truly a great story. I remember it being my little brother’s favorite. I think my favorite children’s book is Goodnight Moon. I just love the way it makes no real sense!
I don’t remember reading Goodnight Moon. I’ll check it out.
My kids loved that book! My granddaughters are fans of Peppa Pig and Fancy Nancy. In fact, one of them looks exactly like Fancy Nancy 🙂
My youngest grandson LOVES Peppa Pig and has everything any of us could find in the store to buy him. How cool that your granddaughter looks like Fancy Nancy!
This is a great pick! I loved this book, too.
Good to know I’m not the only one 🙂
Ow wow. I love that. And what a great birthday gift. I haven’t heard about this book though. Looks and sounds like a great one.
Thanks for signing up and sharing your favorite.
It’s such a good children’s book. I still love it after… a lot of years 🙂
I didn’t really discover this one until I had children of my own. I don’t know why I didn’t have it as a child but it was a favorite around here too.
I loved the Dr. Seuss and Dick & Jane books but this was my all time favorite.
Fantastic gift.
It sure was, and still is!
