THOUGHTS
The book is sad and I felt for Nina and her boys. I can’t imagine having that kind of lifestyle and then losing it within a few days.
I liked Nina. She didn’t know how she was going to take care of her family, but she figured it out while trying to make sure her boys were ok. I liked her youngest son Declan. I thought for his young age he handled things really well. Conner on the other hand did not. And even though I understood, I still wanted Nina to handle him differently. She just took all his crap. She didn’t tell him the truth at the beginning. She let him blame her and talk awful to her. Thankfully he let the anger go towards the end of the book.
I liked this book a lot. It was nice seeing Nina and her boys go from such a great life, to an awful life, and then finding peace with their new, comfortable life.
The author did a great job with the narration. It was easy to listen to.

Sometimes the narrator makes all the difference in the book. This one sounds interesting. Try and stay warm where you are!
Yes, for a few years I gave up on audiobooks because I was so picky about narrators, most of them annoyed me. Then I tried again last year and have picked some really good books with great narrators.
This does sound good. I tend not to listen to audio books because I can’t just listen. I rather have it in book form. Plus some narrators are just not good. My wife like audio books but she has had problems with certain narrators too.
Another book saved to my growing list. 🙂
I know what you mean about narrators. They can make or break an audio for me.

Nina sounds like a strong character and the book sounds good to me.
She’s very strong. I can’t even imagine losing your husband, your home and everything in it, and all your money withing a few days.
It is always gets my attention when the author does the narration. Glad it turned out to be a great audio.

The plot reminds me of many other books, but you suggest that the author makes it into something a little different.

It was different than books I’ve read before.
I’m always a little nervous when I see a non-celebrity author do the narration of their own book but this sounds wonderful. I do like books that involve a character starting over after a hard spot and while this sounds difficult at times it sounds like an amazing read.
I was a bit worried about the narration but Prowse did a great job!

I tried audio in 2014 but gave up. Then in January of last year I tried again and something just clicked. Now I love audiobooks.
