Every Tuesday I host First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros sharing the first paragraph or two of a book that I’m reading or plan to read soon
Feel free to join in by posting your own FCFPTI and linking below
High Seas Homicide (Hannaford British Cozy #1) by Danielle Collins
Lucy Hannaford was in the middle of racking her brains for what she would do next when her husband John came home from work. He worked as a tax attorney for the city of London- the least glamorous job anyone could possible have. She didn’t envy his work. He came home weary, his head down, his back hunched over. He went straight for the armchair every day, not even bothering to change his clothes. He pushed his shoes off his feet, then scrounged around for the television remote.
Based on this intro, would you read more or pass on this book?
Oh, that is a scene that could lead to domestic disputes, at the very least! Sounds good.
LOL!
The opening paragraph is good enough for me to want more. I’m really intrigued by the cover and title. I don’t think I’ve ever read of a murder committed aboard a ship. Hope its good.
I haven’t either Margot.
I read this one and really liked it. I have the second one on my Kindle waiting to be read.
I have the second one on my Kindle too. I’m glad to know you liked this book!
I love mysteries set on ocean cruises. I’ve read several and always think they are like ‘locked room’ books. After all, where could the perpetrator go? Overboard? LOL
You’d think either still on the ship or overboard, but I’ll find out soon.
Bet its a fun read!
I’m about to find out 🙂
Vicki, this first in a series sounds like a fun one; hope you enjoy it.
Thanks again for taking over this Tuesday feature. I’ll try to participate when time allows.

It’s good!
I’m always in the market for a new cozy series–I think I’ll give this one a try.
I hope you like it!
Not a very active beginning but it does make me curious about where the story is going to go. This week I’m featuring a book that has been sitting on TBR mountain way too long – Martians Abroad by Carrie Vaughn. Happy reading!
It seems all my books sit on the tbr mountain for way too long 🙂
Sounds what a lot of us do when we come home from work. The beginning is relatable, I’d keep reading.
I usually change first then sit down though.
Well that opening scene is an easy one to imagine – a great opener.
I thought so too!
First paragraph sounds very interesting.
Sounds like a lot of people could have said it, doesn’t it.
Sounds like a good one. I just bookmarked the book to read at a later date. Thanks, Vicki
I hope you enjoy it!
This sounds good! I love a good mystery and I haven’t read this author before. I really like the sound of the beginning!
Both books in the series are on .99 right now at Amazon.
Oh I like the sound of this one!
This is book one in a 2 (so far) book series. Both books are only .99 at Amazon right now.
Sounds great. I love cozy mysteries. Hope you’ve been enjoying the series.
Today is my first “First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday”!
Thanks for joining us Nina!

This paragraph makes me wonder what the reader has to tell her husband! I would continue to find out.

I’d keep reading, not based on the opening alone but in combination with the title and the cover, I think it would pick up quickly. Fun!
