Animals Have Feelings, Too!: Exploring Emotions From A to Z
Author: Karen Lee Stevens
Publisher: All for Animals
Pages: 32
Genre: Children’s Picture Book

Filled with humor and whimsical illustrations, this enchanting and educational A to Z guide takes young readers on a journey through the alphabet with a lovable Labrador retriever named Sandy, who shows kids that animals and people share many of the same feelings. From A is for Affectionate to Z is for Zonked, Animals Have Feelings, Too! helps children to understand and express their feelings and to treat animals with kindness and respect.

Sandy is a Yellow Labrador Retriever who lets us know that animals have feelings too. Each letter of the alphabet is used for a word that means an emotion, and then a short little story that describes the surcumstances that may cause Sandy to have that feeling. Examples are G is for grumpy and H is for heroic.

This is an adorable book that will help small children understand more about their pets. I has cute illustrations and is a really short read.

I enjoyed the book,  and I think all children will love this book too.

  1. This sounds like one I’d love Vicki – I love animals so this would be a great one to share with grandchildren.

  2. Hi Vicki,

I love the concept of this delightful book and Teri’s cover illustrations are amazing!

When I first saw the title of the book, I did wonder what emotion Karen was going to use to illustrate ‘Z’ and I did chuckle a little when I read ‘zonked’. That isn’t a word I have heard used over here since my childhood 🙂

My little great nephew is only 5 weeks old, so probably a bit young for reading about emotions, although starving and crying are two he knows pretty well apparently 🙂

A great book as a Christmas gift – Thanks for sharing.

  3. This book sounds absolutely wonderful! I love the idea of Arf!

  4. Hm, this might also be good for Gage since we are learning to identify feelings and moods (a struggle!). Thanks for featuring it.
