In this story, Claire has beautiful curly hair, she used to enjoy playing beauty shop with her mother and they would spend hours brushing each other’s hair., Claire had obsession. She decided that it was waste time washing and brushing her hair. Her hair became matted, dirty and very messy. Claire had a pet mouse called Stan; he was the only one who liked Claire’s new messy hair style. so that he decided to make a nest in it. she agreed to take her mother’s advice and clean her hair. As her mother helped, Claire realized that how much she had missed spending quality Laughing time with her mother.

My Thoughts
This book is told in rhyme, and is a very good book for girls who have curly hair. My own daughter had ridiculously curly hair and she would try to get out of brushing it too. Of course, the little girl in the book is only 4 yrs. old, and I think that’s too young for a girl to be taking care of her own hair, but the book would teach them that when they got old enough to care for their hair themselves, to keep it clean and brushed.

  1. Love the title! Going to show this to a curly haired friend called Claire, she’d appreciate it.

  2. I have curly hair and sometimes I wish I didn’t have to bother so much with it! What a cute book.

  3. Hi Vicki,

I too have a curly haired friend called Shirley, who has a 4 year old son called Sam, with ridiculously curly hair, who would both appreciate and smile about a story like this and Sam in particular would find that cover art hilarious.

Me on the other hand, had lovely blonde curls up until about the age of 3, when they all disappeared, leaving me with mousey brown hair, as straight as tap water and totally unmanageable.

I would have died for curls and Shirley and Sam long for straight hair … Why do we never seem happy about what we have?

    Have a great week,

    Yvonne

    • I had blonde hair until I hit puberty and then it turned a light brown. Now that I’m older, it’s straight and getting thinner. Luckily it holds a body perm for close to a year. I’m about due for a cut and perm.

My daughter had such thick curly hair, which she kept long. When she hit puberty it pouffed out like a balloon. She’s been getting it thinned since then. Her daughter’s hair is very curly too, but thankfully it’s not thick.

My husband has black curly hair and I love it.

You are right, people with curly hair wish it was straight, and those with straight wish it was curly.
