UPDATE:
They are Zingiber zerumbet (Red Pine Cone Ginger Lily) and I took the photo in my husband’s aunt’s yard, but I wasn’t able to ask her what they were.
Anybody out there know what they are?

No idea what they are, but they look spectacular. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/O2D5sX, and I have plants I don’t know the name of as well!
They look like some sort of ginger plant.
Thanks Louise! Peggy Ann looked it up and they are Red Pine Cone Ginger Lily.
I have no idea what they are but I think they’re gorgeous!
Look like red pine cones! Hope someone can tell us what they are! Neat!
Found them online! Red Pine Cone Ginger Lily! Louise was right!
They have a tropical look to them. They do look like some kind of ginger plant. Whatever they are they’re very pretty.
They are fabulous, how exotic.
They look familiar…but I am hopeless at “naming” things. I’m very curious now…thanks for sharing.
Here’s MY SATURDAY SNAPSHOT POST
They are gorgeous. I wish I knew.
THANKS for sharing.

For those of you who were wondering, these are in my husbands aunt’s yard.
What an interesting looking species! Are they a flower or a fruit?
