This weeks question is submitted by Elizabeth@ Silver’s Reviews

When you are writing your reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you are completely done with the book?

If the book is for a tour,  I’ll usually have everything (links, book blurb, author info etc.) in a draft and then just add my reviews. But for reviews or books I read on my own I wait until I’m finished with the book to get a post ready.

1. How is it that I’m the only one in my family who can’t whistle?

2. When I go to bed I have to read before going to sleep.

3. I am not sure what I like best, Mexican food or Chinese food, because I
love both.

4. I am happiest when I’m with my family.

  1. I write my thoughts once I’ve finished the book too.

  2. I don’t take notes for my reviews and write everything after finishing the book. Hope you have a great weekend!

  3. I love the different answers. I write reviews as I am reading and then fix them up when I am done reading.

Stop by for my full answer if you like.

    Happy Hopping!!

  4. I haven’t hosted a blog tour as I am relatively new to book blogging. I do keep a few notes as I go, and then just write my response when finished.

  5. I read most nights too… just for 30 minutes or so. It truly relaxes me and takes my mind of things before I fall asleep.

  6. I do the same thing with blog tours … get the post ready, then insert the review after I’ve read the book. 🙂 I also can’t go to sleep without reading a bit first (I usually have a short story collection on hand for bedtime)

  7. If the book is good I always wait until I’m done. Well, unless maybe there is one of those knock your socks off quotes or something. Although even then I usually just mark it right in the book! I wasn’t a note taker in college, so I guess some things never change 🙂 I’m a new bloglovin follower.

  8. I love Mexican food but don’t like Chinese at all…

  9. I wish I was more like you. I always go into a tour planning on doing everything ahead of time. I’m usually coming right down to the wire, trying to get the post formatted and review written like the night before it’s due to go live. SO stressful!

  10. Hey, Vicki!

I usually wait until I’m finished with the book to write a review. What you mention about preparing a post for a tour, and then adding your review in when you’ve finished the book — I’ve done that many times, tool. Especially since I’m often pressed for time.

Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting on my BBH post!! : )

  11. When I’m reviewing just one book in the week, I take notes as I read. If ideas for paragraphs come to me, I also jot them down. However, I pull together the review, only after I’m finished with the book.

The opposite is true when I’m reviewing multiple books in a book. Then I read, read, read. As soon as possible after I’m done, I write my review.

Here’s a different question: Do you prepare questions for an author interview before, while, or after reading a book?

    PS I can’t whistle either. 🙁

    • Allison~ I have a set of about 50 questions that I choose from when interviewing an author. I sometimes add one or two if I have questions about the book I read.
