Sunday Salon

Sunday Salon is on Facebook!

I said at the beginning of the year that I was going to review as I read so I wouldn’t fall behind on my reviews like I did the last few years. Yeah right!! But I’m trying to catch up. So far I wrote reviews for:

The Great Fat Fraud by Mike Schatzki
Fit Moms For Life by Dustin Maher

I still have to write reviews for:
The Other Side Of Suffering by John Ramsey
Growing Up Ziglar by Julie Ziglar Norman
The Encounter by Stephen Arterburn
Ocrocokes Curse by Mark Duffy
In The Sea There Are Crocodiles by Fabio Geda

I’m going to try my best to get them finished this week, or shortly thereafter. The reason I got so behind is that this year started out really crappy for me. I was sick most of the first 4 months. Plus hubby in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. Thankfully things are much better and my reading has picked up a lot.

Another of the things I said I was going to change was how many books I accepted for review/tour. And that I’m doing much better with. I only got 2 in the mail last week:
Iced Chiffon by Duffy Brown
Greco’s Game by James Houston Turner

I’m just starting Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin (my book club choice for July)

I finally watched the movie Jack & Jill and it was hilarious!! Every movie I’ve ever seen with Adam Sandler was laugh out loud funny. If you haven’t seen it, and men dressed as women don’t freak you out (like some people I know), watch it now. It’s one of those movies that makes you laugh and makes you happy.

My daughter in law, daughter and I started a weight loss blog last week to keep track of our progress and I’m excited about that. I think I’ll do better with them keeping me accountable than I would by myself. I do really good for a few months and then wake up one morning and act like I forget what I was doing. Together I’m hoping we can make it to our goals.

Anyone else addicted to Pinterest? I tell myself I’m only going on for a little bit to check and see what new pins my friends have added. Sure, that’s the plan, but one pin leads to another to another to another. But I still go back everyday, and love every minute of it.

So, what’s up with the weather? Every time I step outside, the sun feels like it’s trying to burn me. I’ve read so many articles about how hot it is everywhere, people are dying from the heat, and many are without electricity. My thoughts and prayers are with them all.

Has anyone heard about the malware that’s supposed to hit Monday? The FBI is saying you could be kicked off the internet on Monday if you computer is infected.

On a brighter note, my dog is feeling much better and has even had spurts where she acts like her old self, even her puppy self. Man, I love that dog!! She’s my baby, and my reading partner. See…

This is a picture I took of her a while back, but it’s the only one I ever took of her asking me to read to her, so I thought I’d post it. She doesn’t really like her picture being taken (she gets that from me), but will sit still if I really want her to.

She’s such a good girl!!!

I hope everyone has a good week with lots of reading time!

  1. I’m trying to keep up with my reviews, but got way behind earlier. I’m almost caught up and swear I’ll stay that way. I really shouldn’t swear, though, because I swore I wasn’t going to accept many books and I’m not doing as well as you are with that.

  2. I have to write my reviews as soon as I finish a book and before I start another one this way I don’t confuse the two or forget details. WTG! on being able to say NO to books, I still can’t and get myself in a backlog because of it. The heat here in RI is awful too. Pinterest, know what you mean, some days I can’t believe how long I spend on the site when I should be reading. I just saw the news about the virus. CNN has announced a site to go to, set up by the gov, to see if your computer has been affected. The site is: Hope the info helps. Have a great week!!

    • I told myself I would write the reviews before I started another book, but it didn’t work out that way for me. I already did the check on my computer and it’s ok.

  3. Glad your reading partner is better. Good luck with the weight loss blog. I’m trying to lose weight myself and watching portion sizes.

  4. I hope you have a great week too. I don’t pinterest, haven’t figured out how.

  5. Hi Vicki,

My reading seems to have become slower and slower just lately and as I like to review as I go, my blog always seems sadly lacking in actual reviews.

Mind you, blog hopping doesn’t help. I tell myself | will visit just two blogs a night, but it never works out like that and by the time I have replied to any comments I have received … well, you know the rest!!

Our weather has been as unseasonably wet and windy, as yours has hot and sunny, I think. We Brits love to complain about the weather whatever it’s like, but to be honest, I would rather be here in the rain, than in your kind of heat right now, although I do feel sorry for all the people who have been flooded out and lost everything (and there are many of them).

So sorry to hear of all your health issues, I sincerely hope that the second half of the year is much better for you.

  6. I’m Late, I’m Late! My granddaughter was baptized yesterday and I was away from the computer all day. Thank you for stopping by my blog.
Rising hand, addicted to Pinterest. It’s crazy.

    Have a great week!!
