BTT & Weight Be Gone!

BOOKING THROUGH THURSDAY… is a weekly meme where everyone answers the same question and then visits the other players to see how they answered the question.

Who taught you to read?
My mom mainly, she used to read to me and I’d sit beside her and she’d point to the words as she read them. Then she started asking me what the word was. Some I got quicker than others, and she read the books over and over to me, but I learned to read at an early age and then went to school and my 1st grade teacher taught me what I hadn’t learned yet.

Well, I can’t update my weight right now because when I stepped on the scale, it was blank, so now I have to get a battery for it. Or…I’ve been thinking for a while now about getting a new scale so now would be the perfect time. It’s not that it’s old, I’ve only had it a few years, and it tells you all kind of goodies like your BMI, body fat and body water percentage etc. But, I just want a newer one. You know they’re always coming out with newer and better features, and I want one that’s more updated.

I’ve sure had a hard time getting to the grocery store lately, we go, but something derails us, so I haven’t been eating as good as I should have, or exercising like I should have. Hopefully I haven’t gained back what I lost, or gained more than I lost. That would just not be good.

On the bright side, my daughter in law has been trying to get healthier, and my daughter has promised me that she would (oh yes you did Kilah!), so we’ve started a blog to record our process. It’ll be so good to finally have someone in real life to do this with! I’ll still be posting my progress here though, so you all can help keep me on track.

  1. I don’t remember not being able to read so I’m not sure how I learned. Good luck with the weight loss!

    • Thanks! I only remember because the first book my mom read to me was “Are You My Mother?” by P.D. Eastman and I LOVED it. It was so cute and had a picture of a little bird and a dog on it. I’ve talked about it so much over the years that my hubby found and bought me a brand new copy on Ebay and it came with a stuffed dog like the one on the cover.

  2. Thanks for stopping by my post, now following

  3. I think that losing weight with a buddy who you are accountable to is always more helpful so that sounds like a great family project. And I love how your mom taught you to read … it really is just being read to and then seeing the words and then it all just comes together at some point. I was curious to watch my own son learn to read and it seemed to almost just happen by osmosis.
