I recently found this monthly cooking challenge, and thought I’d join. Thanks to Tina @ Mom’s Crazy Cooking for hosting this challenge. There’s a different theme each month and this month it’s smoothies.
I love smoothies, but finding one to use for this challenge was, well…challenging!
I found lots and lots of Green Smoothies, and other everyday run of the mill smoothies, but I was trying to find one that was different from what I’ve made before.
Thanks to Food. Camera. Blog, I did!
Lookie what I found:
Ingredients:
1 cup Apple Juice
1 Banana
1 1/2 cups Frozen Blueberries
1/2 cup Frozen Raspberries (or Strawberries, or Mixed Berries)
1/4 Cup Walnuts
4-6 Ice Cubes (Optional)
Directions:
Add all ingredients to the blender, and optional ice cubes. Blend until smooth.
Makes 2 1/2 Servings.

I came across a recipe with nuts and was not sure, how they would work, but it seems, they work well. This looks yummy.
Not a big fan of walnuts, but I think I’ll have to go see what other smoothies got featured. This monthly challenge is a neat idea.
I would never have thought to use walnuts in a smoothie, but what a great idea and a great way to add in some protein!!

I love the nuts in your smoothie! Mine used almonds and it gave such a great taste and texture! YUM!

I love the idea of nuts in a smoothie–a boost of nutrition is always great!

This just reminded me that I have blueberries and strawberries plus ice cream and soy milk in my refrigerator! Am allergic to walnuts, so I can’t add those!
Hi Vicki,
I am a huge fan of nuts (not good for the diet, mind you), but am not really a smoothy person. I think that’s because visually, they remind me of milk shakes and I hate milk. Some of the flavour combinations that you highlight are pretty amazing though, so I might well be persuaded to give the smoothy a chance!
Great colourful post,
Yvonne
Never had walnut in my smoothie but will try it out next time.
This sounds so delicious!
I used to put walnuts in smoothies, not sure why I stopped. Yours looks wonderful.
If you haven’t already, I’d love for you to check out my CCC entry: Mango Melon Banana & Chia Smoothie.

Your smoothie sounds great I especially like the use of the walnuts. Have a great weekend.
I have never had a smoothie with nuts in it, but it sounds like it would be good. Looking forward to trying this recipe!
