Sunday Salon is on Facebook!

Book News:
I’m so happy to report that I finally finished In Leah’s Wake by Terri Giuliano Long, and now am finishing up Recession Proof by Kimberly S Lin which I’m reading for a blog tour on the 3rd.

I’ve only received one book in the mail the last two weeks, but this past week I got quite a few and will have them all listed in my Monday Mailbox post tomorrow.

Life News:
I’m sad my blogging buddies, I didn’t make it to the UCF Book Festival. I was so excited to go, but someone needed my help yesterday and so I made the decision to go help them instead. I really wanted to meet Joshilyn Jackson as well as a few other authors and get some books signed, but I’m glad I could help someone who had no one else who could or would help. And, UCF BF is a yearly event so…

I did go Tuesday to Lowry Park Zoo with my daughter and 2 of my grandkids,  and that was so much fun! We got to see lots of animals and had a great time with each other, laughing and just enjoying each other’s company.

Alecia and Harley Jr.

This penguin was all by itself while all the others were swimming

This rhino was HUGE! I’ve never seen one so big!

On Thursday I went out on our boat with my hubby and his cousin to a lake we’ve never been to before and we LOVED it! Lake Rousseau is so different than the lakes we go to and we’re definitely going back as soon as we can. The lake is man made and is fed by Rainbow Springs. All the trees on the land were supposed to be cut down by a local man, but he took so long to cut them that they went ahead and filled the lake in. When the man found out he got so mad that he went in an cut off the trees near the water line so there are stumps everywhere and you have to stay inside the channel markers or you can hit one with your motor.

See all the stumps? Some have other trees growing on top of them, thanks to birds.

My doggy Patches LOVES to go out in the boat !

The water is so clear that you can actually see deep down in the water!
That’s my hubby’s fishing line and all the fish swimming over to eat.
See the big hunk of mullet on the fishing line?

So, even though I missed the book festival (sob, sob), I did have a great week!

Hope you all have a great week! Happy April Fool’s Day!!

  1. Sorry you missed the book festival but it sounds like you did the right thing. That penguin looks sad but Patches looks happy.

  2. That is a shame you missed the festival but it sounded like what you did was more important. Good for you for being the bigger and better person.

And we love Lowry Park Zoo. We’ve been there a few times on vacations. If you’re interested, there is a book about the zoo (set a few years back) called Zoo Story by Thomas French. (Here is a link to my review if you’re interested: http://www.lifewithbooks.com/2011/01/review-zoo-story-by-thomas-french/) I always like to read about places I’ve been so I thought you might want to know about this book if you haven’t heard/read it already.

    • Thanks for the link Jenners!! I had no idea this book existed! We only live an hour from the zoo and it’s one of our favorite places.

  3. I love all the pictures. I’m sorry you missed the book festival, but sometimes other things get in the way.
